NamWater awards top performing bursaries holders
  Windhoek The Namibian Water Cooperation (NamWater), has honoured its bursaries holders by awarding them with top performer’s awards for 2015. The awards were given to those students who did well in the 2015 examination. Human Resources Practitioner at NamWater, Kristina Afomso, says of the 24 students who were given bursaries last year, only 11 have been awared with Alina Kadhila as the Best Degree Student in Geology and Kapulwa Linus as the Best Performer in B-Tech. The top winners were given trophies, medals, laptops and memory sticks. While others who scooped 65 points and above were honoured only with certificates. “For the second time I am being honoured for being the best student, it feels great and I am grateful. This award will motivate me to continue doing what I do best in my studies,” says Linus. “The aim of the awards is to bring in young talents in the company that can take up specialist in leadership position in future,” says the Head of Human Resources at NamWater, Kadiva Hamutumwa, adding that it is also part of their talent management strategies in the company. NamWater awards bursaries for studies at recognised tertiary institutions within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region to deserving Namibian citizens for studies in fields relevant to NamWater operations. The primary criteria for bursary allocation are Namibian citizenship, academic excellence, current study level, neediness, and affirmative action. Bursaries cover expenses in respect of registration, tuition, accommodation, meals, prescribed books, stationaries, pocket allowance, transport beyond Namibian borders, study permit and repatriation insurance. Recipients of NamWater bursaries are required to work for NamWater during vacations and upon attainment of the requisite qualifications after the three years of internal training.
