NNOC to honor Malie snyman
Windhoek Namibian netball legend and veteran administrator, Malie Snyman will on the 27th of this month be honoured by the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC), at their upcoming Women and Sport event at Safari Court Hotel in Windhoek. The event, which will become an annual occasion, aims to honor women who have made huge strides in the development sport and still immensely contribute up to this day despite being retired. Snyman is the first woman who will be honored by the NNOC for her contribution and unwavering support towards the development of netball since independence. She a former netball player and was an executive board member of the All Namibia Netball Association ANNA) at Independence. Snyman was extremely committed as treasurer and true to her calling as a volunteer. The 76-year old pensioner who survived a heart attack and is also a cancer survivor is still active in supporting netball to this day. The proceeds of the event will support the social responsibility course of the NNOC and will therefore be shared between a charity of Snyman’s choice and also cover her medical expenses. Deputy Minister of Sport Agnes Tjongarero will be the guest of honor while renown South African singer Juanita du Plessis will be the guest artist. Nedbank, Old Mutual, Air Namibia, Safari Hotel and Kosmos Radio have come on board to support the initiative financially and morally.
