NQA moves into its TIPEEG funded head office
Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) inaugurated its new head offices in Windhoek’s Windhoek West area, this week. The office was constructed at a cost of N$21 million, money that was apportioned through the Targeted Intervention Programme for Employment and Economic Growth (TIPEEG). Outgoing Minister of Education, Dr David Namwandi, who is not returning to Parliament, also highlighted that establishing the NQA was not an easy task. “We started under extreme conditions. We started from scratch in 1998. There was a time [the chief executive officer of NQA Frans Gertze wanted to resign. He used to receive secret emails. It was not easy and today we have our own infrastructure. What a blessing from above,” said Namwandi.  NQA has to date registered 137 qualifications on the national framework from 36 in the last financial year.
