NSI finalising national standardisation landscape

The Namibian Standards Institution (NSI) is continuing the development of the National Standardisation Strategy (NSS) document. The NSI is mandated to facilitate the implementation of the National Quality Policy (NQP) in order to advance national quality infrastructure, which contributes to domestic socio-economic development.

The groundbreaking initiative is funded by the NSI, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the European Union Partnership Agreement (EPA).

To develop this pivotal national document, it is a requirement to establish the National Standardisation Strategy Task Force (NSS TF), which comprises diverse public and private stakeholders tasked to collect, assess and analyse the socio-economic, future plans and stakeholders’ inputs through extensive regional consultations to inform the development of the National Standards Plan (NSP). To date, seven regional consultations were successfully conducted, while four additional regions are scheduled for March 2024.

To finalise the consultations, the NSS TF invites active public and private sector participation from envisioned regions. The upcoming stakeholders’ engagement sessions are scheduled for 12 March in Gobabis and Ruacana, 13 March in Oshakati, and 14 March at Katima Mulilo.

“As we collectively strive towards a future of enhanced quality, innovation and socio-economic resilience, all invited stakeholders are expected to contribute to the development of NSS. Together, let us shape Namibia’s standardisation landscape, and pave the way for a brighter and more prosperous tomorrow,” the NSI stated.
