ONGWEDIVA – Oshikoto governor Penda ya Ndakolo has urged students of the Higher Ground Training College (HGTC) to study hard to become professional personnel they aspire to become in the future.
He was speaking during the official opening of the college in Omuthiya last week.
Established as a nursing school in 2014, the college has since expanded into offering electrical engineering as well.
“HGTC is now fully registered, as it has been granted full approval by the Health Professions Council of Namibia. Other private institutions should register their institutions before opening for businesses. Many students have wasted their money with unregistered institutions, which eventually leads them to have unrecognised qualifications,” he noted.
Bank Windhoek played a part in the campus being officially opened.
“We place high value on education that caters to the needs of the Namibian society. It is the best way of ensuring that graduates are meaningfully employed and serving their communities with their talents and skills,” said the bank’s credit manager Natasha Arend.
She highlighted that sharing a common goal with HGTC has achieved a worthy end goal.
“We were able to work together towards the end goal of education and community upliftment. We are proud collaborators today and wish the institution nothing but the best for the future as they grow and expand their programmes,” said Arend.
Arend applauded HGTC for also having a tutorial centre that focuses on grade 11 and grade 12.
“This is an invaluable resource to the community, especially for our young learners,” she noted.
