Our players lost focus along the way – Vliete

Fiola Vliete, the playmaker for Beauties, was a bit disappointed with her team’s 2-2 draw against Unam Bokkies in the FNB Women Super League on Saturday, saying they lost focus along the way.

The battle at the Namibia Football Association (NFA) technical centre saw Beauties showing their strength by taking the lead with two goals from Vliete.

However, in the second half, Bokkies came from behind with two goals from Hilary Gontes and Hanavi Muhinatjo to level the game.

After the match, Vliete, who has now scored 33 goals in the league, said they had a good game at the beginning but the team relaxed, allowing their opponents to equalise.

“We played well and scored two goals, which put us in a pole position against our opponents. However, as the game progressed, I don’t know how we lost concentration as a team, and that led us to concede two goals. Nevertheless, I’m content with the score and our performance,” she said.

Bokkies assistant coach Boris /Uirab acknowledged how tough the match was against Beauties, but he praised his team’s persistence and teamwork.

“It was a tough match, but our players showed character against their opponents, and that emphasised the importance of working together as a team. I know we could have won the match, but the points we got are equally important, and I am happy,” he said.

In other results, NUST Babes suffered a 0-5 defeat at the hands of Khomas Nampol, while Okahandja FC thrashed Omaheke Queens 14-0.

V-Power Angels lost 0-3 to Girls and Goals, while Tura Magic Ladies collected maximum points with a 4-1 win over Namib Daughters.

Arrows Ladies also collected maximum points after beating Right Ways 4-1.
