Pirates replace Kakuva with Bertus Bock... Akan back as Technical Director
"Windhoek Namibia premiership outfit Orlando Pirates have appointed Bertus Bock as the club’s new head coach with immediate effect after parting ways with the highly-experienced mentor, Lucky Kakuva, a reliable source within the club’s management confirmed to New Era Sport yesterday. The departing Kakuva last season poured hope onto the streets of Dolam when he led the Buccaneers to the final of the popular Bidvest Cup, where they narrowly lost to Tigers, while he also inspired the team to a sixth place finish in the MTC Premiership. Kakuva previously also had a stint with now-relegated SKW. His contract with Pirates came to an end in May but the club’s management for some strange reason failed to approach Kakuva to discuss his future at the club, despite a fairly good season with the team. Kakuva joined the Buccaneers at the beginning of the 2014/2015 MTC Namibia Premier League (NPL) season. According to the source, besides Bock’s appointment, Pirates have also appointed former coach Ali Akan as the club’s new Technical Director and Ivan Namaseb as Assistant Coach. Prior to his appointment, Bock was the head coach of the U/20 national women’s team. He is also a former Tura Magic mentor. Meanwhile, Black Africa’s newly appointed coach, Woody Jacobs, is said to have already knuckled down to serious business after the former African Stars gaffer conducted his first training sessions on Monday, which included the assessment of various players on trial.
