Rachel wins big in Turkey
Windhoek Local aspiring model, Rachel Mengela (24) could barely contain her excitement when she scooped up to five titles at the final of the Future Fashion Faces World (FFFW) global pageant in Antalya, Turkey, last Saturday. Pinehas Nakaziko traced the happenbing in Antalya and reports. Rachel was one of two Namibian models who represented the country at the FFFW this year competed with 56 participants worldwide. Although this is not the first time she is winning an international title, this time she have put Namibia on the map by winning the categories of Best Catwalk Model, Best Model in Swimwear, Best Model of Africa, Miss Face of Sevil ERHAN and Miss DMD Estetik just in one night.  To top it off, she also got two offers to work as the Face of Sevil ERHAN Houte Couture Company and DMD Estetik. This means she will be travelling around the globe doing promotions and adverts and other works offered by these two companies respectively.   “I am very excited, I did not see it coming. Finally my dream have come true since I dreamed of becoming a super model ever since I was young,” Rachel’s excitement was unmistakable on the phone from Antalya.  She adds that this was her third participation in an international pageant with six titles under her belt, including being one of the top five winners in the Miss Top World Model held in Rome, Italy last year and being Miss Press Princess at Miss Tourism Queen International in China last year. Rachel is encouraging young girls with a passion for modeling not to give up on their dreams as talents are a God-given gift. This year she hopes to enter Miss Namibia and take part in many international pageants and win more crowns. Her manager and the owner of the Visions Modeling Agency, Renata Hranova, who was responsible for facilitating her participation in different beauty pageants, says she is very happy and proud for her achieving amazing titles and putting Namibia on the international level.  “This is not her last destination, much more to come,” says Hranova. The main aim of the FFFW event was to give an open platform to different models to showcase their modeling talents and professional skills on the global fashion stage. Winners will now get a chance to integrate themselves into the global fashion as well as attain status as the most sought-after models in the advertising and filming industry.   Rachel was born in the small village of Onamutayi, south west of Ongwediva town in the Oshana region and she was inspired by her mother to be a model when she was just ten years old.
