Rundu quadruplets discharged from hospital
Rundu - The quadruplets who were born at Rundu State Hospital in August were discharged on Tuesday, after doctors gave them a clean bill of health. The quadruplets, who were born on August 21, have been in hospital care, where they have been kept in the incubator section. “We are very honoured that we have been keeping the quadruplets for one and a half months in our care. Three were born weighing 1.4kg and today they are 2.4kg, and the fourth and smallest one was born weighing 1kg but today he is 1.9kg, so they are healthy and fine,” said the paediatrician, Dr Chantal Riziki Nyembo, who is also the senior medical officer at the hospital. “This was a good experience for us as well. We have also been telling their mother daily that we need proper hygiene for the babies and she must feed them well, and if she has any inquires she should feel free to come to the hospital,” said Dr Nyembo. The councillor for Ncamagoro and Kapako constituencies, Frieda Siwombe, applauded the Rundu hospital for a job well done. “We are so happy to have the four boys, happy and healthy from Rundu hospital. The nation must know that our doctors are qualified and capable, let us not talk bad or undermine them,” Siwombe said. The quadruplets and their mother will be staying at a guest house in Queenspark in Rundu until work on a conducive environment at their mother’s house is completed. Kavango West Governor Sirkka Ausiku is spearheading a fundraising campaign aimed at securing funds for the babies’ shelter. Several businesses have made donations in the form of money and materials to the babies. The babies have been named after some of the people who have offered to assist them. The babies’ names were disclosed as Samuel, Ferdinand, Joseph and Eugene. by John Muyamba
