Sixth Nedbank for Good Series in Oshakati

Nedbank Namibia will host the sixth round of the 2023 Nedbank for Good Series at Oshakati Golf Course tomorrow morning.

A total of 23 golfers have confirmed their participation.

The organiser, Dan Zwiebel, said this is the fourth year of hosting the series.

“The series has seen some amazing talent coming through the ranks as well as women golfers joining in on the action. The Oshakati leg is a special visit for DZ Golf as one sees what an impact this amazing game has on the local community,” Zwiebel said.

As part of Nedbank Namibia’s commitment to giving back to the community, the event’s proceeds will be directed towards the Rössing Foundation and its primary beneficiaries, the learners and teachers in rural schools, who have benefited immensely from the Nedbank for Good Series.

The executive director of the Rössing Foundation, Uparura Kuvare, said previously that the mobile laboratory was able to reach schools without science labs and the apparatus to undertake experiments as prescribed in the curriculum.

“The funding made available assisted the foundation in contributing to improved learning and teaching of science subjects such as biology, chemistry, and physics. With the generous support from the Nedbank for Good Series, the Rössing Foundation was able to take ‘science education to the learners’ through the mobile laboratory,” he said.

Kuvare noted that the sixth round of the Nedbank for Good Series will be in Oshakati at the same time that the foundation’s mobile laboratory is operating in the Oshana region. Four schools will be attending this weekend’s event, and this will give the learners the privilege of seeing golf in practise while at the same time undertaking their science experiments.

He added that the Rössing Foundation is having a wide reach and positive impact in local communities, which is attributed to the support from the Nedbank for Good Series.

Nedbank Namibia communications and public relations manager, Selma Kaulinge, said that “The Nedbank for Good Series is not just about driving success on the field but also empowering positive change in our communities. By supporting this philanthropic endeavour, we align our brand with a higher purpose, where each swing is not only a chance for golfing excellence but also an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need,” she said.

The Nedbank for Good Series continues on the following dates: Walvis Bay Golf Club on Saturday, 19 August; Rossmund Golf Course on Saturday, 26 August; Henties Bay Golf & Lifestyle Resort on Saturday, 2 September; Windhoek Golf & Country Club on Saturday, 23 September; and the final at Omeya Golf Club on Friday, 6 October.

The series is sponsored by Pupkewitz Motors, Future Media, AfricaOnline, Engen Namibia, Safintra Roofing, Gondwana Collection Namibia, CB Enterprises, Zebra Trailers, Pupkewitz Megabuild, Windhoek Lager, and Imperial.
