Standard Bank sponsors 2016 MTB Festival
Windhoek With a major sponsorship of N$100 000, Standard Bank joins other corporates in making the 2016 MTB Festival a reality this month. The fun-filled cycling event is scheduled to take place at Africa Safari Lodge on June 11. The other corporate sponsors are Hollard, Energade and Africa Safari Lodge. The MTB Festival is a popular event, which normally attracts well known Namibian racing cyclists, such as Tristan de Lange, Brandon Plaatjes, Michael Pretorius, Costa Seibeb and Dan Craven. Since equality is one of the cornerstones of any democracy, the MTB Festival subscribes to these modern values and has therefore equated the same prizes monies across all gender categories. Amongst other prizes to be won is a total of N$10 000-00 in prize money, which is up for grabs in the men’s overall and women’s overall categories. Other prizes also include gift hampers and lucky prizes to be handed out during the day. “We are proud to co-sponsor this exciting event, because Standard Bank would like to encourage our customers to maintain a healthy body by participating in sports like mountain biking. “Being physically active maintains your health and increases your energy levels. Namibia needs fit and healthy people to contribute positively to the economy,” says Jacquiline Pack, Head of Marketing at Standard Bank. Racers can participate in this mountain bike competition featuring 35km and 75km marathon distances. Only a maximum of 300 entries are allowed for the race. According to the event organisers the race distance categories are now in line with those of the Namibia Cycling Federation. Entries close on June 3.  This is the 4th consecutive year that the MTB Festival is running ever since the first one in 2013. For more information or to enter the competition, visit the Standard Bank or MTB Festival Facebook page, or visit the website: www.mtbfestivalnamibia.com.
