Swakop extends CEO contract

The Swakopmund municipality has extended the contract of their current CEO Alfeus Benjamin for another five years.

Benjamin’s contract was expected to end on 1 December this year but the council opted to extend his employment based on his significant contributions to the town’s development.

The council made this announcement during a press conference held in Swakopmund yesterday.

Swakopmund mayor Dina Namubes said extending the CEO’s contract was not a daunting task, given the resounding success manifested in the achievements of the town since his appointment.

“Benjamin has played an instrumental role in driving positive change and progress within the Swakopmund Municipality during his tenure as CEO. His exemplary leadership, unwavering dedication, and profound commitment to the community have been pivotal factors in the decision to extend his contract,” she explained.

In an interview with New Era, Benjamin expressed gratitude towards the council for tasking him to lead the town again.

He then highlighted the importance of collaboration and vowed to work closely with the council to lead the town to promote further development.

“I am eager to leverage my experience, skills, and expertise to steer the municipality of Swakopmund towards greater achievements, innovation, and operational excellence. I am confident that together we can overcome challenges and seize opportunities to propel the organisation and Swakopmund city to new heights. It is important to note at this juncture that we have achieved significant milestones that will serve as launch pads for future sustainable development,” he said.

Swakopmund, under the leadership of Benjamin for the past five years, achieved significant progress in land delivery, benefiting over 1 500 residents.

The town also developed a strategic plan, structure plan, as well as an integrated bulk infrastructure master plan that will be used to advance the town.
