Swapo youth get leadership training

ONGWEDIVA – The Swapo Party conducted a two-day leadership training to impart skills and knowledge to its youth league members on Wednesday and Thursday.

This follows another three-day workshop that was held in the Erongo region last month to educate youth league members what is expected of them as they serve the party.

The latest workshop took place at Sam Nujoma Multipurpose Centre in Ongwediva and was attended by members of the central committee.

According to the party’s youth league national deputy secretary Christine Haindaka, the workshop was aimed at addressing challenges facing the party and the government and imparting skills and knowledge to the members.

“Participants were equipped with the necessary knowledge on how they should spearhead our political language in our society. Throughout the programme, we delved into global trends and their impact on Namibia, analysing electoral patterns and exploring ways to reshape our party’s image in the court of public opinion,” said Haindaka.

She highlighted that during discussions they closely tracked the implementation of the party’s manifesto, holding themselves accountable to the promises they made to the Namibian people.

“Effective political communication was also a key area of focus as we strive to connect with the hearts and minds of our fellow citizens,” said Haindaka.

She also mentioned that the workshop is a significant milestone in the party’s history to initiate change and build a brighter future.

According to Haindaka, as the 2024 presidential elections approach, the league needs to educate committee members on what message to take to the masses and what strategies they need to adopt since their representation in the parliament has dropped.

“We need to see where we really need to change,” she said.
