2015-09-10Staff Report 2 Tsumeb Tsumeb Municipality – through its business wing – opened a N$1.2 million hospitality establishment at the Helvi Mpingana Kondombolo Cultural Village yesterday. The newly opened establishment consists of six modern rooms which can accommodate locals and tourists from around the world that visit the cultural village, situated at the southern entrance to the town. The cultural village is located on the right of the road as you enter Tsumeb and is patterned on the outline of the traditional homesteads of various ethnic groups in the country. The CEO of Tsumeb, Archie Benjamin, said the initiative was a re-investment of dividends generated through the regional electricity distribution firm, Cenored. “This is a re-investment of the dividends made through Cenored and this facility will be transferred to the Tsumeb Municipal Company that will serve as the commercial wing of the town council,” he said. Benjamin said they plan to expand the hospitality facilities in the near future and to add additional rooms, whilst renovating the existing homesteads that are currently open for viewing by tourists visiting the copper-mining town. “In future more rooms will be added and the current homesteads will be renovated,” he said. The establishment is now open for business and will offer market-related tarrifs, he added. Tsumeb Mayor Ndangi Shetekeela said he was delighted with the development and hopes the investment will bear fruit for the benefit of future generations. 2015-09-10Staff Report 2
