Tura Magic continue with great form

Tura Magic Ladies continued their impressive run in the FNB Women Super League over the weekend, defeating high-flying Beauties 3-1 at the Namibia Football Association (NFA) technical centre in the capital.

Memory Ngonda, Juliana Blou, and Anna-Marie Shikusho scored for Tura Magic, while Fiola Vliete – the current top goal scorer in the Women’s Super League – scored the lone goal for Beauties in what was a tightly contested match on Saturday.

In a post-match interview with this publication, Shama Gure, the head coach of Tura Magic Ladies, said the game was highly competitive but his team was mentally prepared to win.

“The match was exciting from the onset, but we had the upper hand from the beginning, thanks to the tactics we applied, which worked for us. We put pressure on their right back, which we noticed was a loophole, and we doubled our numbers there, resulting in the much-needed victory,” he said.

Gure stated that they intend to continue improving.

“We’re not focusing on any specific goal at the moment. Instead, we want to keep doing well. Every team in the league is good, and we’ll continue to focus on improving ourselves as a team rather than putting too much pressure on ourselves,” he said.

Meanwhile, Erol Damased, the coach of Beauties, acknowledged that it was not the result they were hoping for but vowed to learn from the defeat and improve.

“It was a very important match and we lost to a top team, but the result wasn’t what we wanted. We’ll take the loss and move on. I believe we’ll regroup and perform better in our next match,” he said.

In other matches on Saturday, NUST Babes won 7-0 against Omaheke Queens, while Arrows Ladies claimed maximum points after defeating Ramblers 2-1.

Yesterday, Beauties bounced back from Saturday’s defeat by beating Right Way 9-0, while Right Way lost 1-0 against Okahandja.
