Uukwiyoongwe receives financial donation

Teachers and learners at Uukwiyoongwe Combined School were in jubilation last week after receiving a monetary donation to the tune of N$40 000 to replace what they lost during a fire incident earlier this year.

The donation was made by the Rani Group.

Uukwiyoongwe Combined School is located about 15km from Oshakati in the Oshana region. It has a learner population of 150 and offers programmes from pre-primary to grade 9.

The incident of arson was reported in January this year, when a classroom, library and storeroom caught fire.

Oshana Swapo party regional coordinator Werner Iita, who officially handed over the donation, indicated that they received a letter seeking assistance from Uukwiyoongwe ,and approached three businesses in the region, with Rani Group positively responding to their request.

“The company requested the school to ensure that the funds are used for the intended purpose of ensuring that Namibian children are assisted in their education,” said Iita.

Iita noted that there are so many challenges faced by the ministry of education, which aims to address the challenges as best as they can.

Hence, they need involvement from both the government and its stakeholders.

School principal Albertina Hamalwa stated that the impact of this donation cannot be overstated.

“It will enable us to not only recover from the setback, but also to continue providing the school with the resources and tools the learners need to thrive and succeed in their academic journey,” she said.
