Vevangaune Kokuuakupi, The neutral must be wondering:
"

Why all the fuss? Everybody dies, right? Why make a fuss about this specific death? Why parade it and bombard us with news of this person’s death? Who is she and why should I care about her death? Why should I find it relevant? Is that even news worthy?

The heat wave at the time of going to print claimed about 2300 deaths in India. Ebola killed 3911 people in Sierra Leone. In 2013, 1.5 million [1.4 million–1.7 million] people died from AIDS-related causes worldwide! So why is the media bombarding me, a paying consumer, with the death of this single being?

The role of a media house is simple-SET THE AGENDA FOR THE DAY! If for any other reason media outlets divert from that mission, the Media Ombudsman will be jumping down their throats. Not just the Media Ombudsman but you as the neutral consumer as well. What am I getting at?

That single being was a radio presenter who directly or indirectly influenced you whilst listening to radio. That single being was a TV presenter who paved the way for today’s entertainment TV anchors. That single being was the Assistant to Hon. Pendukeni Iivula Ithana. That single being was a Sanlam Wealthsmiths Brand Ambassador.  That single being; dear neutral consumer; is what you should’ve considered a role model for your offspring.

Yesteryears generation had Chief Kahimemua Nguvauva, King Nehale Lya Mpingana, Kaptein Jacob Morenga and others to look up to. Our generation? We had Vevangaune Kokuuakupi. She was no King, Chief, Kaptein or gun yielding warrior. She was the modern day idol who was steadfast on values such as:

1. Hard work

2. Innovation

3. Determination

4. Personality

Veva, should’ve been your kids’ role model and not booty twerking Miley Cyrus or Kim Kardashian. Dear neutral consumer, join Industry Loop in conveying our heartfelt condolences to the Muinjo family. Go well Ousi Chi-Chi.

Until the next loop, we say “GMTM”!
