VIBEZ!-MTC OASISONE Skeleton Coast Festival set for December

The MTC OASISONE Skeleton Coast Festival is poised to make its grand debut in December 2023 at Longbeach in Swakopmund.

This inaugural event will not only showcase Namibia’s musical talent, rich cultural activities and breathtaking destinations, but it will also cast a spotlight on the country’s incredible wildlife.

Over 150 artists from across the African continent will perform, including Namibian artists, who will be representing a diverse range of genres.  The music festival will span over 15, 16 and 17 December, and it is set to celebrate Namibia’s rich musical and cultural heritage while showcasing its remarkable destinations.

Furthermore, it will serve as a platform to raise awareness about Namibia’s awe-inspiring wildlife. The festival is not just a musical extravaganza but also a tribute to the natural wonders that make Namibia a unique and cherished destination.

MTC executive Tim Ekandjo said they are honoured to partner with continental and local artists through their MTC TV+ platform to use the immense power of music to not only raise awareness but also preserve wildlife.

“In Namibia, we particularly want to highlight two key issues: human vs wildlife conflict, and finding ways to stop the poaching of our rhinos. We do not own planet Earth; we simply belong to it, and we must, therefore, share it with our wildlife and ensure that our great-grandchildren get to see and experience the wildlife just as we did,” he emphasised.

Founder and CEO of OASISONE and the Rockstar Group Jandre Louw said they are thrilled to launch Namibia’s next big thing – the MTC OASISONE Skeleton Coast Festival onto the world stage.

She added that all the pulsating action, the behind-the-scenes moments, as well as exclusive artist content will be captured and repackaged for exclusive streaming live and on-demand on MTC TV+.

All MTC TV+ subscribers are in for a treat – not only will they receive a complimentary ticket to this once-in-a-lifetime event, but they will also be granted a complimentary one-month access to MTC TV+ to binge on unlimited content.

The festival will also mark the official launch of Wild Africa Fund’s Music for Wildlife campaign, which combines soul-stirring music with the heartwarming cause of wildlife conservation.

“Namibia has some of the most amazing wildlife and landscapes on the planet, and we are excited to be part of this public-private partnership to protect them for future generations,” noted the founder and CEO of Wild Africa Fund, Peter Knights OBE.

The festival’s Music for Wildlife content will premier and stream exclusively on MTC TV+ and also be broadcast across a plethora of more than 30 cable and satellite channels worldwide, including NBC, Trace, SABC, Shomax, The Africa Channel, ITV, OneAfrica, 3Music, ZTN, PeoplesWeather, ITV and many more, spanning across Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Angola, Senegal, DRC, Rwanda, Angola, other Pan African countries, USA, Caribbean and others, and reaching out to millions of viewers.

“The MEFT is excited to be part of OASISONE. It will be added to our tourism product. Our passion is embedded in conservation – and when we have voices combined to elevate the Namibian story of conservation, it’s a beautiful thing,” said Teofilus Nghitila, the executive director of the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism.
