We are pleased with exhibitors – Musutua …sports expo in full swing

The director of the Sports Expo, Tjeripo Musutua, expressed his satisfaction with the number of exhibitors participating in the annual event.

He made this statement during an interview with New Era Sport, where he provided an update on this year’s event.

Musutua said that the event officially kicked off on Wednesday with an opening ceremony officiated by the governor of the Erongo region. He further mentioned that various speakers, both from Namibia and South Africa, addressed the attendees on a wide range of sport-related topics on the same day.

“Activities began yesterday (Wednesday) when governor Neville Andre Itope of the Erongo inaugurated the event, followed by speeches from several prominent figures in the field of sport,” Musutua stated.

He continued, “Today (yesterday), we have a lineup of different speakers and various press conferences scheduled. The discussions will cover various topics, including high-performance sports in Namibia and the evolving landscape of doping. It’s crucial to stay updated on these issues, and this platform will facilitate knowledge sharing.”

Regarding the number of exhibitors, Musutua couldn’t provide an exact figure but expressed his contentment with the local and international exhibitors present. He also mentioned their expectation of more exhibitors joining the event today to showcase their products and services.

“I cannot provide you with the precise number of exhibitors at this time, but what I can confidently say is that I am delighted with both the local and international exhibitors in attendance. We are eagerly anticipating the arrival of more exhibitors today, as this marks the day when they will be showcasing their products and services at this event,” he added.

Abner Xoagub, president of the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC), praised the event as an excellent platform for sport enthusiasts to connect and network. “This is a sport event, and all of us involved in sports should be here. It’s where we exchange ideas and network with fellow sport enthusiasts. We’re also expecting athletes to join the expo today, providing fans with a unique opportunity to interact with their favourite sport stars,” he emphasised.

The expo was inaugurated in 2019 and was held at the Independence stadium. In 2020, it could not be hosted due to regulations in place at the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, while last year, the expo was held virtually. This year, the event returned to the coastal town of Swakopmund.

The event is being supported by New Era Publication Corporation, Ministry of Sport, Youth & National Service, NamPower, Debmarine Namibia, Namdia, NWR and the MTC Dome, NBC, Energy100fm and Standard Bank Namibia
