We are starting to find our feet - Isaacs…as Citizens’ woes continue

Black Africa’s veteran gaffer Brian Isaacs is highly inspired by his young players’ resurgence and remains strongly optimistic that they will finish in a respectable position come the end of this season.

Reflecting on his team’s overall performance this past weekend, which saw them hold Debmarine Namibia Premiership log leaders African Stars to a goalless draw on Saturday before going down 0-2 to Young Brazilians on Sunday, Isaacs is convinced his team is mentally in a much better space than they were before.

“We managed to get a draw against a very difficult side on Saturday but we, unfortunately, lost on Sunday. Despite the two outcomes, as coach, I can really see that the boys are now starting to grow in confidence and are really fighting for the club. Most of my boys are quite young and don’t have the required premier league experience, but they have shown that they have what it takes to stand their ground. I’m truly inspired and that gives me so much hope going forward,” Isaacs told New Era Sport

“At first, it was difficult for me as a coach but now one can see that they are starting to understand my coaching methods, tactics and philosophy. They are adapting very well and I can promise you that soon, Black Africa will be competing to finish this season in its rightful place; above mid-table. Our fans should just continue supporting the boys and not lose hope because better days are coming. The boys are young and with enough time and exposure, they will make this club great again.”

Meanwhile, Sunday’s results saw Citizens slip further into the relegation zone following a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Tigers, while table-toppers African Stars continued with their perfect run at the top of the log with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Young African. Stars now sit 45 points clear at the top, followed by coastal side Blue Waters in second place with 32 points and Unam in third place with 30 points. Citizens, on the other hand, are battling possible relegation with just three points to their name this season.
