Welcoming spring with vibrancy

The first-ever Windhoek Spring Market will be held today and tomorrow at the city’s business district, transforming Zoo Park, Post Street Mall and sections of Independence Avenue into a temporary street-front retail and festive space.

The event, as orchestrated by the City of Windhoek, aims to celebrate and promote the economic and artistic vibrancy of Windhoek through peddling local, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and participating corporate companies.

Up-and-coming artists such as Xtrazz321 and established artists such as well-known South African singer George Longane will provide entertainment.

Apart from vendors and exhibitors, residents, visitors and tourists can also expect a variety of activities such as Zumba, yoga, spinning, ballroom dancing and an exciting line-up of fitness activities by FitCity and more.

A Covid-19 memorial walk will also take place to remember how Namibia and the world were affected.

Residents are challenged to participate in a 1km walking lunge, and they are invited to bring a picture of an affected loved one or write their name and message on the Memorial Wall.

“The City of Windhoek plans to grow the event to make it a regular fixture on Windhoek’s social calendar with the aim to create effective platforms to showcase and support our local industries and unique artistic and cultural identity for the benefit and enjoyment of all our residents and visitors,” reads a statement from the organisers.

The Windhoek Market will commence at 09h00 on both days and end at 22h00 today and 17h00 tomorrow.
