A woman was caught at the Hosea Kutako International Airport on Wednesday attempting to smuggle crystal methamphetamine worth N$1.5 million from Namibia to Brazil.
Confirming the incident, Namibian police spokesperson Chief Inspector Elifas Kuwinga said the drugs were discovered during a police search at the airport. The drugs were sniffed out by dogs.
“Investigations are still at an early stage and further progress will be communicated,” said Kuwinga. New Era has it on good authority that the enormous amount of drugs were covered with carbon, plastic and sellotape and then hidden inside the lining of the suitcase. It is alleged the suspect got the suitcase from a girl in Windhoek to transport it to Brazil. The police could not provide New Era with further information pertaining to the arrest.
