Woman charged for concealment of birth
Tsumeb Police in Oshikoto Region are investigating a case of concealment of birth after a 23-year-old woman allegedly aborted her baby by drinking a concoction of soapy water. The incident is estimated to have occurred during the day on Monday but it was only reported to the police at around 21h40. The incident was confirmed at the Oshikoto police regional headquarters in Tsumeb on Tuesday by Chief Inspector Stephan Nuuyi. Nuuyi said the suspect is a learner at Lipundii Senior Secondary School and has since been arrested and charged with concealment of birth. The incident occurred at Omuthiya. The foetus was transported to Okatope mortuary and police investigations continue. In a separate case an 18-year-old man allegedly raped a two-year-old boy. The boy reportedly sustained serious anal injuries and the suspect has been arrested. A case of reckless and negligent driving has also been opened at Onayena in the Oshikoto Region after the driver of a 4x4 sky-blue Bakkie bumped a pedestrian between Onayena and Okankolo main road at Helena Kaambu location. The victim was identified as Johannes Namupala and sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the Onandjokwe Lutheran Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.
