Zambezi Green to showcase products at Discover Namibia Expo

SWAKOPMUND – A farm, called Zambezi Green, is one of the exhibitors gracing this year’s edition of Discover Namibia’s trade expo that started yesterday in Swakopmund.

The business is showcasing its fresh produce as a vital component to addressing food security for all Namibians.

Speaking to New Era this week, Zambezi Green’s Anne Mutelo said they are excited and look forward to exchanging knowledge and learning from other exhibitors during the expo.

According to her, Zambezi Green prides itself on producing nutritious and fresh organic produce that can be enjoyed by the entire country.

“We want to ensure that all individuals have access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs. Hence, Zambezi Green explores the issue of food security in Namibia through their various fresh produce from the Zambezi region,” she explained.

She added that Zambezi Green has positioned itself as an innovator, change-maker and strategist, advocating for nature-based solutions to improve the livelihoods of Namibians by ensuring fresh food for consumers.

According to Mutelo, the business goes beyond just producing greens and fruits by emphasising accountability and transparency throughout its agricultural value chain.

Their mission also extends to driving economic development and social inclusion for farmers while educating them on techniques to increase crop yields.

They believe this can be achieved by combining the indigenous knowledge of the farmers with the expertise of research professionals in the field of organic farming.

“We utilise underground water from boreholes supplemented by fresh water from the Zambezi River to provide fresh greens to consumers by adopting organic farming processes, which involve responsible farming methods and compost as fertiliser. Our focus is on creating a sustainable, natural and organic food system that doesn’t harm the planet’s ecology”, said Mutelo.

Zambezi Green will also be selling fresh produce at this year’s Discover Namibia Township economy trade Expo.

The event is organised by the African Economic Leadership Council (AELC), headed by Heinrich Hafeni.

The AELC has re-strategised to focus more on the development of township businesses and MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises).

According to Hafeni, this event will serve as a platform for local MSMEs from different sectors of the economy to showcase their products and services, network with other stakeholders, attract investment and promote economic growth that can in turn lead to significant employment creation.

The Expo has catered for 100 MSME exhibitors as well as 200 delegates for a gala dinner.
