The Governor of Oshana, Clemens Kashuupulwa, has commended the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia (SDFN) for sponsoring a rural community project which has complemented government’s efforts to address the socio-economic development of the country.

The Governor was speaking here on Saturday, March 17, at the opening of a hammer mill project, a project initiated by this rural community to develop themselves through income-generating activities.

“The government is committed to uplifting the living conditions of all Namibians and cannot achieve this alone. Therefore, it calls upon all stakeholders to mobilize resources that can be used to fight poverty in the country. It is you, the sons and daughters of the soil, who will develop Namibia as citizens of this country. As a result, the Oshana Regional Council in particular and the entire government system in general should join your endeavours to achieve your dreams,” said the Governor.

He also praised the contributions made by Standard Bank, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry (mostly in terms of project proposal advice), the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare towards realizing the project.

The Governor appreciated what he termed the public private partnership between Standard Bank and SDFN following the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions. In terms of the agreement, Standard Bank has created favourable investment conditions and banking facilities for the SDFN.
