WINDHOEK – The race for the Windhoek Bowls League title is now wide open after an impressive showing by the Windhoek Country Club Bowls team (WCC) that saw them accumulate a staggering 32 points during the second last tournament of the competition on their home turf last weekend to keep their title aspirations alive.

The hosts got off to a perfect start by hammering the bottom side Windhoek Bowls Club 12:0 on Saturday. On Sunday, the WCC players came up against the Eros Bowls Club, whose players were oozing confidence following their 10:2 win over log leaders TransNamib (TNBC) in the day’s opening match. After a hard-fough tie Country Club held the upper hand and eventually won the tie 10:2. The last game of the tourney had the in-form team up against TransNamib, who struggled the entire weekend. Country Club maintained their 100 percent record by despatching their rivals 10:2. Although TransNamib managed to accumulate a paltry 14 points over the weekend, the railway outfit missed out on a chance to decide the championship before the last event of the season. TransNamib players will have to jack up their game considerably at the season’s grand finale with both Eros and Country Club hot on their heels.
