Robyn: Own and take up spaces

Robyn: Own and take up spaces

Media personality Robyn Nakaambo has strongly suggested that those in the entertainment and music industry should ensure they broaden their spectrum and own spaces, even in foreign countries.

She scooped the award for Entertainment Presenter of the Year at the Basadi Music Awards in Johannesburg, South Africa, over the weekend.

“It feels surreal I am still trying to pick the pieces, and mend them all together. The entire nomination for me was God’s grace because having come here last year, doing the red carpet event, me getting on the radar and being noticed enough for me to be nominated was everything,” said Nakaambo in an interview with South African media.

She was nominated for her work as the presenter of Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC)’s ‘Whatalifestyle’ show.

The awards recognise and celebrate women in the entertainment and music industry.

Also termed What-a-lifestyle, the show is a fashion and lifestyle magazine programme that showcases individual fashion sense and style, as well as talent within the fashion industry.

She further said the nomination was a win in itself and the win is for the Namibian girl child who has always had big dreams that may have been scary.

“This win symbolises a platform and new dawn for Namibian TV presenters to be able to take up space on platforms such as these, and do that in different countries,” said the public relations executive.
