The acting secretary general of the Namibia Football Association, Mabos Vries, says he is satisfied with the manner in which the 2025/2026 Namibia Premier League season concluded, despite a campaign marked by logistical challenges.
The season came to an end over the weekend with African Stars crowned champions for a remarkable fourth consecutive time. Their dominance sees them once again walk away with the top prize of N$850 000.
Vries revealed that the league’s successful completion required significant financial intervention and coordination.
“We started with a government grant of N$10 million. There were challenges with stadium unavailability, and we had to postpone matches here and there. The NFA made sure there was an additional N$7.5 million to ensure the league concludes successfully,” he said.
He extended gratitude to clubs for their cooperation during what he described as a difficult period for Namibian football.
“We thank and appreciate the clubs for their support during these challenging situations,” he added.
While pleased with the overall outcome, Vries admitted that there is still room for improvement, particularly on the administrative side of the game.
“Administratively, moving forward, we need to improve and ensure a more effective administration,” he noted.
In terms of prize money, the 2025/2026 season maintains a structure consistent with recent years. African Stars’ N$850 000 winner’s cheque mirrors what they received after lifting the 2024/2025 title, along with the trophy.
Runners-up Eeshoke Chula Chula will receive N$420 000, while third-placed Mighty Gunners are awarded N$320 000. Ongos FC take home N$230 000, followed by KK Palace with N$180 000.
Blue Waters earn N$160 000, while Unam FC collects N$140 000. Eleven Arrows receive N$120 000, Julinho Athletic pocket N$100 000, and Bucks Buccaneers round off the top 10 with N$80 000.
“We will process the winnings during the course of the week so clubs can invoice the league,” Vries confirmed.
