SINGER and songwriter Ann Singer, whose real name is Anastasia Linus, recently released her latest album ‘Love’, boasting 14 heartfelt tracks that delve into the intricate journey of love.
The album’s creation was a year-long labour of love, drawing from Singer’s personal experiences and diverse stories of others.
Her favourite track, ‘Ondatokola’ serves as a motivational anthem, reflecting her growth and determination in pursuing her goals.
Singer acknowledged the challenges she faced while crafting the album, expressing excitement for its release and apologising to fans for the delay. She mentioned her growth, both musically and vocally, since the album’s inception. Collaborating with producer, the late Arafath Muhuure, Singer fondly recalled the memorable process of bringing her vision to life.
“This album is an inspiration for me and it’s personal for me. Ten years from now, I will still be listening to my favourite song ‘Ondontokola’ which talks about decisions that I make and the decisions that people make. With this album I will be able to drive that Range Rover that I want because I’m inspired,” she said.
The talented vocalist last released her second sophomore 12-tracked album titled ‘Sanity’ in 2019. She was once signed to major South African label Mabala Noise which once housed some of Mzansi’s top artists, including Nasty C, Gigi Lamayne and the late Ricky Rick.
She added that she was involved in the production process, which she found to be fun and interesting.
Furthermore, in terms of music, she has grown. She says when she recorded the album, she laughed at her own mistakes showing she has grown vocally.
The album tour, radio tour and television appearances are also on the horizon, to give fans a chance to experience her music live.
Despite the absence of direct influences, the album incorporates elements from various artists while embracing a contemporary Afro and R&B sound. “Now I’m back full-time in the studio. A lot has happened in the past. Covid-19 hit and I was just quiet now my fans can expect more from me,” she told VIBEZ!
