With barely 48 hours left before the first ball is kicked for the 2015/2016 MTC Premiership campaign, tempers are reaching boiling point within the corridors of Capital Centre, Levinson Arcade, Central Windhoek.
News reaching the New Era Sport crew is that disgruntled Black Africa playing personnel have downed tools and threatened to boycott the club’s opening league assignments, when the league kicks off this weekend, until their salaries and other entitlements are fully paid.
Our mole revealed that the aggrieved players have not been paid their August salaries and are peeved at the lame excuses advanced by club management for the delay.
Senior players who spoke to New Era Sport on condition that their identities are withheld, for fear of reprisal, confirmed the ugly saga saying they have resolved to boycott training sessions until the wage dispute is settled.
It has also emerged that the club’s final warm-up match, which was to have taken place on Tuesday against Civics, was cancelled at the eleventh hour after the BA players refused point-blankly to honour the fixture – demanding their outstanding salaries be settled first before returning to work.
Approached to shed light on the debacle, club supremo Ranga Haikali tried to downplay the fiasco but half-heartedly admitted that there was indeed a problem, which in his own words was just a minor misunderstanding between them and the players. He, however, expressed the hope the issue would be put to bed before Friday.
