At the recent launch of the 2025 Agra Weaner Championship in Windhoek, Bank Windhoek’s Marketing and Corporate Communication Services Executive Officer Jacquiline Pack said the bank’s support for developing the agricultural sector is evident in its various investment initiatives.

The nationwide competition identifies, rewards, and promotes superior farming practices in Namibia. It is also an opportunity to breed top-quality weaners at various auction locations. Namibian farmers compete for the prestigious title of national champion.

“As a relationship-driven bank, we recognise that our customers are the cornerstone of our success, and platforms like this reaffirm our commitment to building lasting relationships. Our membership in the Namibia Agriculture Union has enabled us to connect, participate and entrench ourselves in the industry to enhance our understanding, add value, and become a thought leader,” she said.

As an avid supporter of the agriculture industry, Bank Windhoek annually hosts the Bank Windhoek Agriculture Series, which covers topics of interest to the industry. 

Through its partnership with Feedmaster, Bank Windhoek sponsors the annual National Youth Cattle Judging Competition. 

Other projects include communal farming training, support for the Livestock Producers’ Organisation, the Windhoek Agricultural Show, and various small stock and cattle auctions nationwide.

The 14th edition of the 2025 Agra Weaner Championships will start on 10 June, and conclude on 4 September 2025. The competition comprises 18 weaner auctions from Karasburg to Grootfontein, where a panel of judges will determine the best animals on auction.

At each auction, the top three producers are awarded, lining them up for the grand prize at the gala event after the competition ends. 

The series also continues to recognise the role of buyers, awarding prizes to those who invest the most in the series and purchase the largest number of animals.

As a supporter of the Agra Weaner Championship Series since 2009, Pack concluded that this competition is not just about winning prizes, but also about benchmarking quality, showcasing hard work and improving the national herd.
