The coastal-based outfit finished the season in second position behind African Stars in the 2022/23 Debmarine season.

In Cricket, Iwan van Staden was named the most improved player, with Ado Ita winning as best fielder.

Herman Karsten walked away with the top wicket-taker of the season with Simon Shikongo grabbing all-rounder/player of the season award.

In Netball, Jastmine Awases was named the most disciplined player, with Lucia Johns winning the best midcourt award and Ashiya Otta being named best shooter.

Ndeshihafela Nauyoma walked away with a Player of the Season award.

Speaking at the awards, club chairmen Robert Shimoshili said the club has revived two dormant sports codes namely Rugby and Volleyball. “For the past season, our management team has achieved a set goal and we are proud to announce that we have revised our dormant sports codes, and we are pleased to announce that Blue Waters sports club has five sports codes. These are Football, Netball, Cricket, Rugby as well as Volleyball,” he said.

He explained that the past season was a tough one for the club, but dedication and commitment by all members led them to their success.  Shimoshili took time to pay tribute to the 2022/23 Namibia Premier Football League champions, African Stars for the wonderful season they had.

He also congratulated the Namibia Football Association Normalisation Committee leadership for the splendid work it did in stabilising and growing football in Namibia. Waters currently has three players in the Brave Warriors camp preparing for their crucial Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier against Burundi.

They also have five players in cricket players at the national level.

Shimoshili called on club members to remain united and work for a common goal saying division will lead to the death of the club.

“We have seen how several clubs that household names in names were disintegrated due to disunity amongst members, this is something we must jealously guard against. I am therefore pleased to note that former players, club veterans, youth and many other stakeholders are availing their time to support the club,” he pleaded.

He concluded his address by paying tribute to the club leadership, saying as an institution, they believe in a collective approach, collective decision making and adopting valuable input and advice from internal and external stakeholders to better our club.
