BoN donates gym equipment to Oshana police

OSHAKATI – The Bank of Namibia (BoN) handed over gym equipment worth over N$300 000 to the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshana region on Monday.
Handing over the donation at Oshakati, BoN’s director of currency management and banking operations Sencia Kaizemi-Rukata said the men and women in uniform are the backbone of the society in upholding law and order.
Their work demands not only mental resilience but immense physical strength and endurance.
“Thus, we hope that the gym equipment will serve as a valuable resource to support your physical fitness and overall wellness,” she said.
She added that as a central bank, BoN heavily relies on NamPol in the discharge of their core mandate of national currency provision and other security details, given that BoN is classified as a national key point.
She said the donation is the first step in the realisation of a fully-fledged gym for the hard-working men and women in uniform.
Accepting the donation, NamPol Oshana regional commander Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria remarked that the donation is more than just equipment to them.

He said it is an investment in the health, well-being and future of the police officers.
“The importance of fitness in policing cannot be overstated. Physical fitness helps police officers to enhance their endurance, and reduce the risk of injury,” he said.
He added that fitness also helps police officers to improve their mental health, and ensure that they are capable of performing their duties effectively.
Sakaria noted that policing involves long hours of patrolling, standing and walking, hence high fitness ensures officers can maintain their energy levels and perform efficiently.
Ultimately, he said a fit police force results in a safer and more efficient community for all.
