ONLY 45% of Namibians have heard of climate change in 2021 and 2022, according to a study conducted through a project on Social Impacts of Climate Change in Namibia.

Calculating the farming cost per unit has been a question for many farmers, and perhaps one of the key topics we plan at the 2nd Edition Strategic Farming Seminar coming this October.

Any path we choose in life begins with one step at a time. As we progress along that path, the steps we take merge, and we repeat those that take us forward while avoiding those that set us back. 

Namibia, being an arid country, is often hit hard by drought. The result of continuous dry spells has resulted in low crop production, while hordes of livestock are lost every year due to a lack of grazing.

Namibia has placed more weight on agriculture and forestry as key sectors in which carbon credits can be traded in the country.

Gerson Kandanga pursued his passion to become a full-time farmer and retired at the age of 45, leaving behind a career in mining - a decision he doesn’t regret. 

Farmers are the backbone of Africa; they are the men and women who work in the searing heat and bitter cold to put food on our tables and clothes on our backs. They rise with the sun to tend to crops and stay up late to review accounts.

In efforts to improve productivity and prepare farmers for the upcoming  agricultural competitions in the region, the Aminuis Agriculture Extension Office, in collaboration with Agribank, held a small stock selection session recently in the Omaheke region.

Now that we have fully covered financial literacy, it is also imperative that as farmers, we find ways to create passive income streams. 

Productive land is one of the world’s most valuable assets in banishing poverty and creating shared prosperity but this can only be achieved if enough nutrients are added to the soil so that it can produce more food and lead to food security.
