WINDHOEK – A Chinese delegation from the south-eastern coast province of Zhejiang officially donated three ambulances and medical equipment to the Ministry of Health and Social Services on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services and the government of the Zhejiang province of the Republic of China signed documents in April, when it was agreed that the latter would donate ambulances to the ministry.
One ambulance costs N$636,724.82 while the medical equipment is worth N$200 000.
The head of the six-member delegation, Zhang Ping, said at that occasion that the Chinese government is willing to work with Namibia in the area of health to improve the health of Namibians.
Chinese Ambassador to Namibia, Xin Shunkang, said China cherishes its relations with Namibia.
Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Richard Kamwi, who was pleased to officially receive the ambulances said the vehicles and equipment came at the right time.
Kamwi further urged the Chinese government to look into training Namibians in the area of acupuncture. He also asked that there be exchanges of medical personnel of the health ministry with those of the Zhejiang province.
