The Cooperative League of the United State of America (Clusa’s) role in the newly founded Namibian Conservation Agricultural Consortium 2 will be to provide training and mentoring to tractor drivers.
This is in the form of a five-day training workshop in addition to on-the-field mentorship programme. After the initial five-day training the tractor driver trainer follows up the trainees to assess their ripping skills in the field, says Inomusa Nyati from Clusa. Clusa will also provide training to community promoters of draught animal ploughing: training farmers using animal drawn rippers and handle the coordination of ripping services coordinating of tractors, so as to determine which tractor should be assigned where and when.
It will also do verifications and measurements of the hectares ripped ,as well as maintaining a data base for beneficiaries and measuring yields and documenting success stories. Clusa will also be responsible for project coordination, finance and administration, project oversight and management.
