Cops should rededicate anti-poaching initiative – Tjivikua

Home Crime and Courts Cops should rededicate anti-poaching initiative – Tjivikua

Windhoek

The Deputy Inspector General for Operations of the Namibian Police, Major-General James Tjivikua, has urged Nampol members at the Etosha National Park and Palmwg Conservancy areas to rededicate their efforts in protecting the country’s natural resources from poachers.

Tjivikua also urged members of the force to observe the principles of law and order as well as natural justice, particularly the presumption of innocence until proven guilty by a competent court of law.

Tjivikua visited the Etosha National Park and Palmweg areas in an effort to dispel myths and speculation on police anti-poaching operations in the country’s national parks and game reserves.

He also had time to interact with and observe the change of guard at Otjovazandu and Etosha.

He said the rhino anti-poaching operation in the Palmweg area will continue unabated under the same leadership.
Meanwhile, the Nampol Commercial Crime Investigation Division has requested the public to assist in tracing the whereabouts of Andreas Shilamo, Elifas Limbandungila Sam, Mercial Elmarie Strauss, Jonas Kaiko, John Kandji, Jackson David, Sakaria Hashali and Fanuel Simon.

Other suspects being sought are Alfred Joakim Kasoma, Willie Karipata, Willem Orlam, Paulus Michael and Paulus Johannes.

They are all former employees of the City of Windhoek and are urgently needed to avail themselves at the High Court.
