ONGWEDIVA – A deacon of Okahao Elcin parish has been suspended after allegedly propositioning a young man and offering him a job in return.
Simon Ndaumbwa (58) confirmed his suspension to New Era yesterday and he has admitted his deed, however, the church is mum on whether they have relieved the deacon of his duties.
In a widely circulating audio recording, Ndaumbwa said he was looking forward to having anal sex with Jeremia Mushunina (24) once they get acquainted.
Mushunina told New Era he received a call from Ndaumbwa convincing him to forgive Hendrick Shuudeni and to stop exposing elders who are alleged to be gay.
He has previously exposed Shuudeni in a similar fashion.
Mushunina said he then recorded their conversations and later circulated an audio on social media. The recordings have now reached Elcin management.
“We can do it in secret,” Ndaumbwa said on the recording, confessing his interest in Mushunina during their telephone conversation.
Recently, this publication also reported that Shuudeni, who was then a pastor at the church was allegedly accused by Mushunina of having anal sex with him in exchange for a job.
Mushunina stated: “He promised me a job at Rani Group company in Okahao, adding that he is very close to many shop owners and therefore it is easy for me to get a job.”
Ndaumbwa specified: “I didn’t propose to him. I am a married man with four children. I was just trying to advise him because I care a lot about him and it is part of my work as a church leader,” he said.
However, he admitted that his suspension was fair as he was at fault as it related to promoting the LGBTQI+ community.
“I was suspended because I was promoting gays in Namibia. They said I demanded sex from Mushunina. Elcin didn’t like it when I used vulgar words since I am a church leader,” he noted.
He added that he doesn’t have peace anymore because people are now calling him gay and his family is also shocked.
“I made a mistake when I said I will have sex with Mushunina. I am regretting it. May God forgive me because I embarrassed my family and the whole Elcin congregation at large,” he lamented.
