Few goals scored in Premier League matches

The Debmarine Premier League Round 12 matches played on Friday and Saturday provided an exciting, yet low-scoring spectacle.

Several teams faced off in tightly-contested matches, but only a handful of goals were scored across the weekend’s fixtures.

On Friday, Tigers FC drew 1-1 with Young African at SKW Stadium in Windhoek. Young African, who have been enjoying a strong winning streak throughout the season, were unable to continue their winning ways, settling for a draw against the hardworking Tigers FC.

At Vineta Stadium, Khomas NamPol secured a 2-0 victory over Blue Boys, continuing their solid run in the league. Fortune Eichab, head coach of NamPol, said it is always difficult to play football after a three-week lay off. “But we regrouped in the second half and adjusted a few things tactically and broke Blue Boys down.”

Khomas NamPol was supposed to face Blue Waters yesterday, but the match was called off, as some key players in the latter’s squad are away on national duty.

Meanwhile at Oshakati, Eeshoke Chula Chula edged past Cuca Tops with a 2-1 win, adding another victory to their campaign.

Unam FC also had a successful outing, travelling to Okahandja United’s home turf and defeating them 4-2 in an entertaining clash. However, Blue Waters could not break their winless streak, playing out a 0-0 draw with Young Brazilians at Kuisebmund Stadium.

In other action, Mighty Gunners and Bucks Buccaneers played to a 1-1 draw at Mokati Stadium. Similarly, FC Ongos faced defending champions African Stars at Unam Stadium, with the match ending in a goalless draw.

Finally, KK Palace FC and Julinho Athletic also played a 0-0 stalemate at Oshakati, ensuring the weekend’s fixtures were marked by several scoreless draws.

Round 13 matches were scheduled to be played yesterday, with the results set to be available on New Era’s Facebook page.
