Home Crime and Courts Forgery suspect gets bail of N$1 300

Windhoek

The Windhoek Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday granted bail of N$1 300 to a woman allegedly involved in forgery at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration.

Monika Shatiwa faces a charge of forgery and uttering. Court documents alleged on June 22 this year that she unlawfully, falsely and with intent to defraud and to the prejudice of Anatalia Mwaalwa forged a signature.

Her right to legal representation was explained to her. Shatiwa informed the court she would conduct her own defence. The matter was remanded to December 7.

Her bail was originally set at N$1 500. Shatiwa told the court she could not afford N$1 500 and that she could only afford N$1 300, to which the bail was reduced.
Magistrate Ndapewa Amadhila presided, while Erastus Hatutale appeared for the State.
