Goals galore in the NPFL…as Stars thrash Young Brazilians

In a dazzling display of proficiency, defending champions African Stars set the Debmarine Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL) ablaze this weekend, decimating Karasburg-based outfit Young Brazilian with an emphatic 10-0 victory on Saturday.

This is the second-highest goalscoring record of any Namibian elite football match since independence, with Civics’ 11-1 victory over Friends in 2007 still the highest winning margin.

Uetuuru Kambato (three goals), Awilo Stephanus, Mbakondja Tjahikika (two goals), Youssouf Ibroihim, Maharero Ndjiraeree, Vitapi Ngaruka and Edmund Kambanda all etched their names on the score sheet for the football powerhouse from Katutura.

In other matches across the league, the Otjiwarongo-based Mighty Gunners battled to a 1-1 draw against the newly promoted Okakarara Young Warriors. Okahandja United secured maximum points by defeating Life Fighters 2-1 – thanks to goals from Giovano Kaninab and Lovy Kahiru, while Ronaldo Tjikurunda scored for the Otjiwarongo team.

Coastal outfit Blue Waters continued their winning streak in the Premier League by defeating Julinho Sporting 3-1. Erastus Kululu, Isaskar Guirab and Sem Ndahangwapo contributed to the scoreline, with Johannes Shiyave registering a goal for the visitors.

Newly promoted team Eeshoke Chula Chula redeemed themselves from last week’s setback, securing a 1-0 victory against Unam with a goal from Gorge Marselius. Young African bagged maximum points by overcoming Civics 1-0 at Legare Stadium in Gobabis, courtesy of a goal from Roger Majafa.

On Friday, Ongos FC took on Tigers in a match that Ongos won convincingly with a 2-0 scoreline. Bester Desmond Useb netted both goals, showcasing Ongos FC’s dominance on the field.
