Haitope triumphs at Spar Namibia Women’s Race

Lavinia Haitope of Nampol Club claimed victory in the 10-kilometre race at the Spar Namibia Women’s Race on Saturday morning, crossing the finish line at Wanderers Sports Grounds in Pioneerspark, Windhoek, in an impressive time of 33 minutes and 50 seconds.

She expressed her delight at setting a personal best, revealing that her participation in the race was part of her preparation for the upcoming German Marathon.

“I’m thrilled with my performance today,” she said.

“This race helped me gauge my form ahead of my next big challenge,” she added.

Alina Armas finished in second place with a time of 34 minutes and 31.08 seconds, while Svenja Pingpank took third place, clocking in at 34 minutes and 38.48 seconds.

The race, which aimed to raise awareness about gender-based violence, also supported charities dedicated to assisting women and children.

Among the participants was former world boxing champion Paulus ‘Hitman’ Moses, who joined the event to show his support for women affected by abuse.

“Running is good for your health,” he said, adding a personal touch of solidarity.
