The Namibia Hockey Union (NHU) has unveiled the senior national women’s and men’s squads set to participate in the Indoor Africa Cup in Swakopmund from 23 to 26 May
Both teams will contest against Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa.
The women’s squad is led by Petro Stofberg.
They are determined, and boast a talented group of players.
Look out for rising stars like Azaylee Philander and Amber Dercksen alongside established names like Gillian Hermanus and Jivanka Kruger.
The men’s squad equally features a strong core of experienced players, led by captain David Strauss and vice captain Ernest Jacobs.
NHU media officer Tunomwaameni Epafras said both teams have been training diligently in preparation for the Cup.
“The NHU is confident that they will represent Namibia with pride, and compete for top honours on home soil,” he said.
Here are the names of the women’s squad: Stofberg (captain), Jamie Henckert, Suntelle Ludwig, Gillian Hermanus, Kiana-Che Cormack, Azaylee Philander, Jivanka Kruger, Jerrica Bartlett, Amber Dercksen, Jahntwa Kruger, Kyla Landsberg and Danja Meyer.
Men’s squad: Strauss (captain), Jacobs, Roben Kambinda, Dakota Hansen, David Britz, Liam Hermanus, John-Paul Britz, Nico Neethling, Cody van der Merwe, Owen Hatton, Fagan Hansen and Brynn Cleak.
