MariusD to drop first EP soon

Rose-Mary Haufiku

Multi-genre artist Mathew Marius, who goes by the stage name MariusD, is set to drop his first EP on 25 June 2022.

The seven-track Extended Play (EP) is titled ‘The star shine’, and follows two albums released in 2016 and 2020, respectively.

The 30-year-old told VIBEZ! that he joined the music industry in 2016, and released his first 14-track album titled ‘I’m right now’ that same year. In 2020, he dropped his 10-track second album called ‘Perfection’.

Marius described his musical journey as challenging, noting that being an artist in Namibia is not as simple as it appears “as everyone may see your potential for success, but no one is ever willing to assist you”.

“I started from scratch, looking for good quality beats from good music producers, and it took me years to find one. To date, I have worked with good producers like Chronic, Antonio Zombolam and Bex Carter Doza,” he noted.

Marius pointed to Chris Brown, Usher, Mario and a few other international artists as his music influences.

His favourite tracks on the forthcoming EP are “I believe” and “Trust yourself”.

Marius said he composed all of the songs on this EP, with DJ Dozza as producer.

He aims to be one of the best and most-disciplined musicians; “one who inspires and assists other budding artists”.

The singer is also a photographer in Windhoek, and likewise sells branded t-shirts and hoodies.
