After weeks of inactivity due to various events, Namibia’s top-flight football league is set to resume this weekend with several exciting fixtures lined up.
According to the fixture schedule released by the governing Namibia Football Association (NFA), teams will play only one match each this weekend a change from the usual back-to-back games played on Saturdays and Sundays. Action kicks off in the northern part of the country, where Eeshoke Chula Chula will host Rundu outfit Cuca Tops, who have been struggling to find form. The much-anticipated match will take place at Oshakati Independence Stadium and is scheduled to start at 14h00.
Later at the same venue, KK Palace will take on Julinho Sporting in another thrilling encounter set for 17h00.
In Swakopmund, Vineta Stadium will be the stage for a potentially explosive clash between Blue Boys and Khomas Nampol, which kicks-off at 15h00. Meanwhile, at Kuisebmund Stadium in Walvis Bay, Blue Waters will entertain Karasburg outfit Young Brazilians, in another 15h00 kick-off. Fortune Eichab, one of the league’s players, said the break had given teams ample time to regroup and improve their performance.
“We are looking forward to these exciting games. The break allowed us to rest and refocus on our league campaign. As a team, we always look ahead rather than dwell on past results,” he said.
About their upcoming match, he said: “We take each game as it comes, and we never underestimate any opponent. Our primary goal is to collect points in every match, and we are ready for the challenge.”
Okahandja United will be home against Unam at Nau-Aib Stadium in what promises to be an exciting encounter for Okahandja fans. Meanwhile at Mokati Stadium in Otjiwarongo, Mighty Gunners will look to continue their fine form when they take on Woody Jacobs’ Bucks Buccaneers at 15h00. In the capital city, Unam Stadium will host one of the most anticipated matches of the weekend as Ongos FC takes on defending champions African Stars at 16h00. -mkambukwe@nepc.com.na
