Despite their unbeaten streak coming to an end against Okakarara Young Warriors, Khomas Nampol’s head coach, Fortune Eichab, remains firm in focusing on their core objectives and drawing inspiration from the positive takeaways of the weekend.

Nampol, who still maintains their leading position with 18 points, suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday, narrowly losing 1-0 to the newly promoted Warriors, who were eager to secure their inaugural win of the season. However, they quickly rebounded on Sunday, defeating Rundu-based outfit, Julinho Sporting, with a 1-0 victory, securing another maximum points haul on the road.

Reflecting on the challenge of their first defeat, Eichab acknowledged the formidable opposition presented by the determined Warriors. He also noted the role played by the unfamiliar weather conditions, but commended his team’s adaptability.

“Facing teams in the northern part of the country was no easy task. We observed significant differences in the weather compared to our accustomed conditions, which contributed to our loss. Nevertheless, during our match against Julinho on Sunday, we adapted to the weather and employed a different approach, resulting in a well-deserved win away from home,” Eichab stated.

Looking ahead, Eichab expressed his optimism for the future, saying, “We will regroup and address our shortcomings. I firmly believe our team performed admirably, and we are on the right path. Our initial goal was to accumulate 26 points by the end of the first round, and we are steadily nearing that milestone,” he said.

In other weekend results, on Friday, Tigers played to a goalless draw against Okahandja United, while on Saturday, the coastal team, Blue Waters, dominated Civics with a 4-1 win. On Sunday, Julinho Sporting struggled and lost 0-1 to Khomas Nampol, while Civics rebounded from Saturday’s setback to claim a 4-2 victory against Okahandja United.
