WINDHOEK – Last weekend’s Junior Masters Tennis Championships marks a highlight on the junior tennis calendar, known for years as the Nashua Junior Masters Championships.

The youth tourney ended in style with the best of the best in junior tennis taking to centre court at the national tennis courts in Windhoek. The youth tourney marks the culmination of the junior tennis calendar, which sees local players compete in up to 15 junior tournaments staged in Windhoek, Swakopmund and Outjo throughout the year. Participants earn points for their respective finishes in these tournaments with the points added together to form their individual rankings. Based on these individual performances in 4 such tournaments, the top 8 ranking players from each age group qualify for the end of the year Masters tourney. This also marks the 10th year that Nashua Namibia has supported the Masters tourney, which serves as a springboard for junior tennis development.

Junior tennis development exposes young players to competition giving them a chance to test their skills and learn life’s important lessons of winning and losing gracefully. The Namibia Tennis Association (NTA) has expressed gratitude towards Nashua Namibia for its massive support of tennis development and in particular its longstanding commitment to the Masters tournament.
