WINDHOEK – Bank Windhoek has renewed its commitment towards volleyball with a whoping N$80 000 sponsorship to the Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF), as the 2014 season kicks off with the Bank Windhoek National Open Beach Volleyball Championships at the Swakopmund Mole beach this coming weekend.

In addition, Bank Windhoek has undertaken to continue its sponsorship of the National Indoor Volleyball League in which the country’s top teams will compete, starting in April. Namibia’s best beach volleyball players will be competing in the season’s pipe opening tourney starting on Friday until Sunday in the men’s, ladies and the mixed 4-a-Side social category.

The NVF will also host a development clinic at the same venue tomorrow afternoon for young local players. Kids interested in learning the basics of volleyball and who want to have fun are welcome to register by e-mail at beach@namibiavolleyball.org. From the total sponsorship amount, N$30 000 is earmarked for the National Open Beach Volleyball Championships, while N$50 000 will go towards the National Indoor Volleyball League. The National Indoor Volleyball League will kick off in the 2nd weekend of April with the country’s best eight men’s and ladies teams in action. These teams consist of the top six teams from last year’s National League proceedings and the two winning teams per gender for the play-off competition, which include the relegated teams and best teams for each regional competition.
