The much-anticipated 2022 edition of the annual Namibia Sport Expo (NSE) will kick off on Thursday with a two-day conference that extensively unpacks all pertinent aspects related to the business side of sport.
Unlike past editions that focused only on showcasing products and services, this year’s expo will be a multifaceted gathering that will include a two-day conference, workshops and a wholesale exhibition – all running simultaneously.
The expo, which will be held under a new three-year partnership between the Namibia Sports Commission and MTC Dome, will take place from Thursday to Sunday at the MTC Dome High-Performance Centre in Swakopmund.
As a curtain-raiser component of the expo, the Thursday and Friday conferences will see various local and international industry representatives, training experts and critical stakeholders coming together to share their knowledge and experiences.
They will exchange notes on pertinent skills and sport development issues affecting the local sector while also providing solutions on the integration and use of new training methodology, high-performance sport and development pathways, the latest sports apparel and equipment as well as creating new strategic partnerships.
Renowned sports administrators, such as Cricket Namibia CEO Johan Muller, local sports medicine expert Mellita Kgobetsi-Mathe, Special Olympics Namibia director Emilia Nzuzi, The Dome CEO Fanus Engelbrecht, The Dome sports director Ulla Finkeldey, Ironman South Africa regional director Keith Bowler, T’Neil Young of Aggregated Sport Consultancy and Nike representative Ray Wicksell will form part of the conference.
Saturday will see live music performances and other entertainment, as well as the Archery World Championship taking place, while workshops and other related activities are also on the line-up.
Some of the confirmed exhibitors for this year are GARMIN Namibia, ASC Gottingen, Kart Store Namibia CC, Cricket Namibia, 2022 Africa Genesis Archery World Virtual Tournament, Namibia Paralympic Committee, Namibia National Olympic Committee, Kingdom Way Chess Academy, Namibia Motorsport Federation, National Youth Sports Development Platform and NeoLife.
