Adora joins 99FM… putting her eggs in many baskets

Following in the footsteps of fellow Namibian musician, EES and international acts like Nicki Minaj and Dr Dre, singing sensation Adora Kisting has joined the world of radio.

The songbird revealed to VIBEZ! she has always been convinced she would do well on radio, and got the opportunity to do so by being in the right place at the right time.

“I stood in for one of the 99FM presenters for a week or so and they asked me to co-host for one day. After that, they saw potential in me and thought I could do well and started training me,” she explained.

Adora feels that being on stage and addressing fans is totally different from being live on radio. “My personality is not different but how you address your listeners is different; the kind of language, content and words you can and can’t use is different. Also, separating the performer from a radio presenter has been a bit of a challenge, but the talent developer at TribeFire Studios is amazing; the whole team there is very helpful and is guiding me one step at a time.” The Keetmanshoop-born artist, who has also been on screen as a television presenter for a music show, is showing diversity and is not putting her eggs in one basket.  “I love TV presentation a lot because I believe in seeing expression to feel expression. However, I’m falling in love with radio more and more. I’m unpacking another potential that I thought I did not have. To have a bit of everything is very helpful in terms of building my brand,” she noted. Director of 99FM, Zellmari Brandt confirmed the singer joined the station on a permanent basis, saying they are beyond excited to welcome the vibrant, genuine, fun-loving human to their family.  “She is still in the development phase so we can’t, at this stage of the game, say exactly when her own show will start, but we’re working towards March 2022. Soonest we know, you’ll know. Promise!” The bubbly Adora, who has been on air this past week presenting with Mo on 99’s breakfast slot, feels presenting on radio is not supposed to be different from who you are as a person.

“Radio presentation is a little calmer environment; less exciting compared to being on stage, though, but I’m going to be true to everyone, and stay true to the traits that I have as a person. That’s what people can expect from me when they tune in to 99 FM.” Meanwhile, Adora revealed that this radio job is her first job ever. “There is a lot that I need to adapt to such as timetables and schedules worked out for me. With music, it was always when I felt creative or feeling some type of way, then I would go to the studio. But this is very exciting for me and a big change. I have never gone beyond my comfort zone, which is something I’m looking forward to,” she concluded.
